We've been learning about making connections and predictions when we read. Good readers think about what they already know about a topic to help them understand what a book might be about. I LOVE these pictures of Grade 1 students making predictions of what might come next in the story we were reading together. Often the author will give us clues and we should stop and think. I can see many of them actually thinking with a physical motion. Make connections by thinking and talking about what you already know about a story and make predictions about what might happen next. This helps new readers develop strategies to understand, or comprehend the story!
